About Jacksonville FL

Located at the point where St. John's river spills into the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville, Florida, is one of the most unique cities in the country. The city and its surrounding areas are filled with meandering rivers, streams, and marshes that bring nature right to the doorstep of Jacksonville.

Because of the innumerable bodies of water in the area, water sports are a large attraction. Those who like to swim, fish, kayak, paddleboard, or surf find a haven within the city's borders. Because of the unique climate and geography, plant life and animal life are also abundant in the area and can be seen by traversing the rivers or diving under the ocean.

Jacksonville boasts a sophisticated city park system that fills more that 80,000 acres of the city's land. In addition, the city is located near many state and national parks where families can go to enjoy the beautiful weather. Many other points of interest throughout the city attract visitors such as the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the Kingsley Plantation, and memorials honoring veterans. Popular among these attractions is the Friendship Fountain which was said to be the biggest and tallest fountain at the time of its construction in 1965.

The city also prides itself in its diversity. Many different cultures form a part of Jacksonville's history, and this melting pot is celebrated in its museums, historical tours, and festivals.

With its natural beauty, culture, and diverse background it is no wonder that Jacksonville is the most populous city in all of Florida, and the 12th most populous in the country. It is a charming and unique place to live and provides its residents with the comforts of home and the joy of nature.
